Ravaged by lahar in the 1990's, the town was almost wiped out of the maps as thousands flee the historical town, said to be the seat of Spanish colonial government in the Philippines during the 2 year British occupation in Manila.
Yet the town survived with new hopes and the church stands still, half buried, as a manifestation of the Kapampangan resiliency.
After all, Santino hails from here, a town called Bagong Pag-Asa. A gleam of new hope to the Bacoloreños.
